VALE: Richard B

To all members, we sadly inform you that Richard B of Seize the Day, Caloundra Early Birds and Cosmos Groups passed away over the weekend. No further details are available but we do know that our dear friend and home group member was sober and peaceful. Richard was an active member of AA right up until his sudden passing with 32 years of sobriety. Holding positions within his home groups, on the Caloundra clinic roster and Woodford prison roster for many years. Please keep his family and close friends in your prayers and thoughts. Position Vacant – Office Co-Ordinator – Applications close on Friday 28 August 2026.

Job Vacancy – Office Co-Ordinator

This is permanent part time paid position. (Typically, 4 days a week)

The CSO Brisbane Office Coordinator runs all aspects of the office. They must be proficient in all aspects of running a small office that includes retail and legislative activities. Given the services the office provides, the role requires a thorough and practical understanding of Alcoholic Anonymous’ Steps, Traditions and Concepts. Supervision and training are key aspects of this role. The requirements of the role are as follows:

 

  1. Relevant skills, knowledge, experience, qualifications and/or training
  2. Experience with supervision and training of staff and volunteer’s
  3. Perform a range of planning functions which may require exercising knowledge of statutory and legal requirements. Knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements of an Incorporation registered as a not for profit body
  4. Financial recording and reporting in a retail environment
  5. Knowledge of organisational programs, policies and activities, and the proven ability to initiate and develop guidelines, work procedures, and processes, and ensured they are followed
  6. Payroll activities (subject to approval) and HR oversight.
  7. Provide specialist expertise or advice in relation to complex issues
  8. Develop, control and administer a records management service for the receipt, custody, control, preservation and retrieval of records and related material;
  9. Secretary for the CSO Steering Committee and Reps Meetings
  10. Provide reports to the Steering Committee and Reps Meetings regarding the functioning of the CSO. Distribute and file relevant agendas, minutes and reports
  11. Ability to perform all the job functions of the administration assistant position.

In determining suitability for the role, the following criteria are considered essential:

  • Knowledge of AA’s Steps, Traditions and Concepts
  • Relevant experience with MYOB software (or XERO or similar software)
  • Knowledge of in-person and digital banking procedures
  • Intermediate understanding of bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of CSO Constitution and standing orders
  • Advanced skills using MS Office
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills

The following criteria are considered highly desirable:

  • Tertiary or vocational training in administration or related field

Job Vacancy  –  Administration Assistant

Administration Assistant

This is permanent part time paid position. (Typically, 2 days a week)

The CSO Administration Assistant supports the Office Coordinator in the running of the Central Service Office. To that end, the Administration Assistant must be proficient in all aspects of running a small office that includes retail activities. Given the services the office provides, the role requires a thorough and practical understanding of Alcoholic Anonymous’ Steps, Traditions and Concepts. As the CSO employs a limited number of staff, it is expected that within reason, the role will cover for the Office coordinator in times of planned and unplanned absence. More specifically your duties will include the following:

  • Receive and action general enquiries by phone, email and in person
  • Enter sales in MYOB, and issue invoices
  • Collate orders and dispatch by post
  • Order and receipt in stock
  • Assist with the maintenance and distribution of outgoing communications
  • Provide direction and assistance to on-site volunteers
  • Pay invoices (subject to approval) and execute transaction in MYOB
  • Execute other transactions in MYOB (including Pathfinder sub-account) subject to level of training
  • Receive and record ad hoc cash donations
  • Undertake in person bank transactions
  • Undertake scheduled bank reconciliations
  • Act as Secretary for the CSO Steering Committee and Reps Meetings in the absence of the Office Coordinator
  • Provide reports to the Steering Committee and Reps Meetings in the absence of the Office Coordinator regarding the functioning of the CSO
  • Distribute and file relevant agendas, minutes and reports

In determining suitability for the role, the following criteria are considered essential:

  • Knowledge of AA’s Steps, Traditions and Concepts

  • Knowledge of digital banking procedures
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping

  • Skilled at conducting Bank Reconciliations

The following criteria are considered desirable:

  • Tertiary or vocational training in administration or related field

We are looking for people to join the schools subcommittee and help steer our engagement and approach and / or volunteer to speak at schools – training provided, you only need to bring your experience and willingness to serve.
